TurnpikeSports® NFL Week 13 Picks

Dave

Los Angeles chargers at the Pittsburgh Steelers

The Steelers are a 3.5 point favorite with an O/U of 51.5

I love the way the Chargers and Philip Rivers are playing but I can’t overlook the injury to Melvin Gordon. When you're playing a good Steelers team in Pittsburgh you need all your weapons to pull out the win. This game has serious playoff implications and when it's being played in Pittsburgh you always give the edge to the Steelers.

I'm taking the Pittsburgh Steelers and laying the points

The Chicago Bears at the New York Giants

Chicago is a 4.5 point favorite with an O/U of 45.5

The Giants are a baffling team to me. They have the best running back in Saquon Barkley and the best receiver in Odell Beckham and then they still find a way to lose a game against a depleted Philadelphia team last week. I like the Bears in this one because, just like last week, the Giants will find a way to lose this game.

I'm taking the Chicago Bears and laying the points

New York Jets at Tennessee Titans

Tennessee is a 9.5 point favorite with an O/U of 40.5

Certainly neither of these teams are world beater with Tennessee showing flashes of good football throughout this year. However Tennessee does not have the offensive talent to blow people away and given that the Jets have covered in their last two meetings with the Titans, I think the Jets have the ability to keep this game close.

I'm taking the New York Jets

---

Doug

Indianapolis Colts @ Jacksonville Jaguars

Colts are a 4 point favorite with an O/U of 47

These two teams come into this game heading in opposite directions.  The Jags have lost seven straight with the the last one coming against the Buffalo Bills.  They’ve named a new starting quarterback with Cody Kessler taking over for Blake Bortles and I can’t really say if that’s going to change anything with this team this year.  Maybe the defense picks it up against their AFC South rivals, but I don’t think so. The Colts have a five game winning streak and I don’t see it ending this week. Make it six in a row for Indy.

Pick is Colts

Chicago Bears @ New York Giants

Bears are a 4.5 point favorite with an O/U of 45.5

Chicago is well rested after playing on Thanksgiving and have won 5 straight, some of those games without their star Khalil Mack and their quarterback, Mitchell Trubiski.  The Giants were just handed a loss by the Philadelphia Eagles last week after leading for most of that game. Not just leading, but dominating the Eagles. Regardless of who’s playing quarterback for the Bears, Trubisky or Chase Daniels, who played well in their last game, I think Chicago has more than enough to win this easily over the G-Men.

Pick is Bears

Carolina Panthers @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Panthers are a 3.5 point favorite with an O/U of 55.5

Tampa Bay has shown flashes all year, but that’s all they’ve really shown - flashes.  Fitzpatrick played well for a while, then didn’t. Jameis Winston has been up and down all year.  And while Carolina isn’t as good on the road this year as they are at home, I’m comfortable in this game to look at Carolina winning this one in Tampa.  The last game was a 42 - 28 win by Carolina and I think you might see something similar here.

Pick is Panthers

MLB Makes MGM Resorts ‘Official Gaming Partner’ As Sports Betting Deals Proliferate by Eric Ramsey

Make it three sports betting deals for MGM Resorts International and the major pro leagues in the US.
MGM became the “official gaming partner” of Major League Baseball on Tuesday, following agreements the company already inked with the NBA and NHL. The deal includes access to league logos and official data for use in sports betting operations.
That data falls into two separate categories. The live feed itself is not exclusive, but MGM will be the only sportsbook operator with access to certain “enhanced statistics.”

TurnpikeSports® NFL Week 12 Picks

Dave

Cleveland Browns at the Cincinnati Bengals

The Bengals are a 3 point favorite with an O/U of 47.5

The Bengals have been struggling of late but with AJ Green coming back to the lineup after a two-week absence it should give the Bengals a boost. The Browns are a terrible 0-3 against the spread when they visit Cincinnati and are still reeling from the loss of their  head coach and their offense of coordinator. If there was ever a must win game for the Bengals this is it.

I'm taking the Cincinnati Bengals and laying the points

Seattle Seahawks at the Carolina Panthers

The Panthers are a 3.5 point favorite with an O/U of 47.5

Seattle is coming off a great win against the Green Bay Packers last week and I'm looking for another great game from Russell Wilson against this very average Carolina defense. Carolina is coming off losses against Pittsburgh and Detroit and are not playing their best football right now. I think this is going to be a close game and, hell Seattle might even pull this out.

I'm taking the Seattle Seahawks in this one

The Pittsburgh Steelers at the Denver Broncos

The Steelers are a 3 point favorite with an O/U of 46.5

The Steelers are one of the hottest teams in the NFL right now. Just think of it, Roethlisberger had his worst game in recent memory yet still pulled off the win against the Jaguars. Big Ben will certainly be better this week which will allow the Steelers to get their seventh win in a row.

I'm taking the Pittsburgh Steelers

---

Doug

Miami Dolphins @ Indianapolis Colts

Colts are a 9.5 point favorite with an O/U of 50.5

Miami comes in facing a Colts team that’s reeled off four straight wins after starting out 1 and 5.  Andrew Luck has been playing better and better each week and the team as a whole seems to be starting to come together under new coach Frank Reich.  All this being said, Miami’s defensive front is still a force to be reckoned with and could cause problems for the Colts. If the line wasn’t so big, I’d probably lean the Colts way, but with that large of a point spread, I’m thinking the Dolphins with Ryan Tannehill back at quarterback to keep it closer than that.

Pick is Dolphins

Jacksonville Jaguars @ Buffalo Bills

Jaguars are a 3 point favorite with an O/U of 37.5

Buffalo entered their bye week by beating up the New York Jets and now have an opportunity to put together two wins in a row.  Matt Barkley looked surprisingly competent against what is turning out to be a really bad Jets defense so it will be interesting to see if he can continue to play well against an elite defense like the Jags.  Jacksonville is hurting for a win and doesn’t look anywhere near the team it did last year, especially after blowing a 16 point lead against the Steelers. The Bills are no Steelers, but I think they should keep it close, if not win this game.

Pick is Bills

Seattle Seahawks @ Carolina Panthers

Panthers are a 3.5 point favorite with an O/U of 47.5

Both teams come into this game playing well.  Seattle has lost close games all year and the Panthers have lost two straight coming into this game.  The one thing here is that it’s the Panthers at home, where they haven’t lost a game this year. The Seahawks are coming in rested but Carolina is just a better team when they are home.  They’re more consistent both offensively and defensively at home. I’m going with Carolina at home.

Pick is Panthers

Thanksgiving Gambling on Plymouth Rock? Who Knew the Pilgrims Got Their Game on Back in the Day BY Casino.org's DAVID SHELDON

Thanksgiving is the official start to the holiday season in the United States, a time of year when families and friends come together to celebrate their American heritage, not to mention great food and football.
After all, it’s some low-stress merriment, free of the ensuing pressure of shopping lists for everyone you ever met in your life.
Instead, togetherness, a football game outside or watched on television, and a rich L-Tryptophan-laden meal are all that’s required to make this iconic American holiday a success.

Report: NY ‘No Longer Has A Role In Regulating’ Fantasy Sports After Court Ruling by Dustin Gouker

How about this for a plot twist for DraftKings and FanDuel: They are now operating without any
sort of daily fantasy sports regulation in New York, the state that was the epicenter of their legal
battles in recent years.
According to a report from The Buffalo News, the NY State Gaming Commission is not overseeing the DFS industry in the wake of a recent state court ruling that a 2016 fantasy sports law was in violation of the states constitution.

PA FANTASY REVENUE SPIKES AHEAD OF WIDESPREAD SPORTS BETTING LAUNCH BY BILL GRINSTEAD

With Penn National launching the first legal sportsbook in the state last week, and several other casinos primed to do the same, attention will likely soon shift away from fantasy and DFS games to straight up real-money sports betting.
Nonetheless, with all four major sports leagues in full swing last month, the Keystone State’s fantasy sites pulled in a decent haul in October, banking $2.9 million, a 36% bump over the previous month.

We have gotten used to busy weeks of sports betting news in the six months since the US Supreme Court erased PASPA. It has become the new norm in this brave new world, and it’s best if we all just learn to accept it. Things happen, and whatnot.
If you’ve been following the story since May, you know that many things have happened. And they continue to happen. States are lining up to pass laws and launch their own industries, leagues and teams are suddenly all aboard the money train, and operators both foreign and domestic are staking out their turf.

TurnpikeSports® NFL Week 11 Picks

Dave

The Dallas Cowboys at the Atlanta Falcons

The Falcons are 3 point paper with an O/U of 48.5.

While the Dallas Cowboys had a impressive win on the road in Philadelphia last week,  the question is can they do it two weeks in a row. Atlanta is a much better team at home and Matt Ryan seems to take it to a different level when he's playing in front of the hometown crowd. I like Atlanta in this one to win by a touchdown.

I'm taking the  Atlanta Falcons and laying the points

The Oakland Raiders at the Arizona Cardinals

Arizona is favored by 5.5 points with an O/U of 40.5.

Let's face it, the Oakland Raiders are just plain awful. They have lost five straight games and the only time they look like a competent team was when they beat the Cleveland Browns. The Raiders have scored six or less points in three of their last four games, which is the most telling stat for me when looking at this game. The Arizona Cardinals are not world beaters themselves, but I think they have enough talent to win by more than a touchdown against the Raiders.

I'm taking the Arizona Cardinals and laying the points

The Pittsburgh Steelers at the Jacksonville Jaguars

Pittsburgh is a 5.5 point favorite with an O/U of 46.5.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are one of the hottest teams in the NFL right now and the Jacksonville Jaguars are, well, not. The Steelers come into this game with five straight wins and the Jaguars come into this game with five straight losses. The last time the Steelers played was last Thursday, so with a couple extra days of rest the Steelers should pull this one out.

I'm taking the Pittsburgh Steelers and the points

---

Doug

Houston Texans @ Washington Redskins

Texans are a 3 point favorite with an O/U of 42.5

The Texans are coming into this game riding a six game winning streak.  They haven’t lost since week 3. The Redskins have been playing well too, having won 3 of their last 4 home games and 4 of their last 5.  While Washington’s been playing well and finding ways to win, the Texans may be just too talented for the Redskins, especially if Watson gets going and the Redskins fall behind early.  There’s a chance the Redskins can grind a win out of this one, but I’m going to go with the road team here.

Pick is Texans

Oakland Raiders @ Arizona Cardinals

Cardinals are a 5.5 point favorite with an O/U of 40.5

This may be the battle for the number one pick in next year’s draft.  These teams have a combined record of 3 and 15. This could also be the last time the Cardinals are favored in a game for the rest of the year.  Oakland is 2-8-1 ATS over its last 11 road games, while Arizona is 5-1-1 ATS overall. The game could be tough to watch, especially with two very anemic offenses, so the under is attractive here as well as taking the Cardinals and laying the points.

Pick is Cardinals

Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ New York Giants

Giants are a 1.5 point favorite with an O/U of 52

This game is very close to being a pick’em pointspread and I wouldn’t be surprised if it moves to that by kickoff.  The Bucs haven’t won on the road since opening week and are coming in after game where they couldn’t finish drives. The Giants, while having another particularly bad season, played well last week against the 49ers.  If they can continue keeping Eli upright, they should be able to pull this one out. I have more confidence in the Giants at home than I do with Fitzmagic and the Bucs on the road.

Pick is Giants

New York is stuck in a holding pattern around sports betting, but that’s not keeping its casinos from filing into position.
On Wednesday, Empire Resorts announced a “strategic alliance” with a subsidiary of bet365 to offer sports betting and online gambling for a period of 20 years. Empire owns Resorts World Catskills, a $1.2 billion commercial casino venture in Monticello which opened early this year.
Bet365 is a European heavyweight that bills itself as the world’s largest online sports betting operator. And it seems to have growing ambitions in the US. This partnership is its second stateside, following an alliance with Hard Rock Atlantic City announced in July.
Empire’s stock was up more than 35 percent following the announcement.

While Maryland voters likely will have to wait at least two years to decide whether to legalize sports gambling, a narrow majority of the state’s voters approve of adding lawful sports betting today, according to a Washington Post-University of Maryland poll.
The poll found 53 percent of registered voters in favor of legal professional sports gambling, with 37 percent opposed, and 10 percent of voters having no opinion. Those with strong opinions on the issue were about evenly divided, with 26 percent strongly disapproving of legal sports betting, and 24 percent strongly approving.

States legislating their own parameters of the industry, with New Jersey and Pennsylvania leading the way, will “really help my business,” Fezzik said.

Turnpike Sports® NFL Week 10 Picks

Dave

New Orleans Saints at Cincinnati Bengals

New Orleans is favored by 4.5 points with an O/U of 54

If anyone saw the Saints last week they know that they're the most complete team in the NFL right now. Although their acquisition of Dez Bryant will make the difference this week, it'll give that good Cincinnati Bengals defense something to think about in past coverage. I think the Saints will be just a little too much for the Bengals.

I'm taking the New Orleans Saints and laying the points in this one

The Seattle Seahawks at the Los Angeles Rams

The Rams are a 10 point favorite with an O/U of 50.5

The Rams are one of the best teams in the NFL but that's too many points in this game. These two teams played a couple weeks ago and the Rams eked out a 33 - 31 win and they had to come from behind to do it. Seattle's great defense should keep this closer than the point spread. I think the Rams will win, but not by 10.

I'm taking the Seattle Seahawks to cover.

Atlanta Falcons at the Cleveland Browns

Atlanta Falcons are 4 point favorite with an O/U of 50.5

The Falcons are much better team than the Brown's who are still reeling after the loss of their offense of coordinator and head coach. By the way the Browns have a better record against the spread this year, thanks to their very good start but Atlanta seems to have turned their season around after last week's win against the Washington Redskins and should be too much for the Browns to handle.

I'm taking the Atlanta Falcons and laying the points

---

Doug

Atlanta Falcons @ Cleveland Browns

Falcons are a 4 point favorite with an O/U of 50.5

The Browns fired the coach and offensive coordinator two weeks ago and, well, nothing's changed a lot in Cleveland.  They’re coming in to this game with a four game losing streak and seem to be completely lost as a team. The Browns defense is still good, but with the Falcons, they’re facing one of the best offensive teams in the league.  The line seems low here, but I’m going to lay the points and go with Atlanta.

Pick is Falcons

New Orleans Saints @ Cincinnati Bengals

Saints are a 4.5 point favorite with an O/U of 54

The Saints seem to have recovered nicely from that loss at Tampa Bay to open the season and they just look like they will keep getting better.  They just added Dez Bryant who should help an already incredibly potent offense even if it would be in just a small way. The Bengals have shown flashes this season.  Flashes of good and flashes of just downright ugly. I’m thinking the Saints will continue tearing through opponents and win this one.

Pick is Saints

Jacksonville Jaguars @ Indianapolis Colts

Colts are a 3 point favorite with an O/U of 46.5

The Jaguars are on a four game losing streak and look very beatable compared to last year’s team.  The defense isn’t as stout as it was and the offense isn’t too consistent or at time, even competent.  The Colts, on the other hand, are coming in after back to back wins against Oakland and Buffalo. Sure they Buffalo and Oakland, but they scored 34 or more points in 4 of their last 5 games and, to be honest, I’m going to trust Andrew Luck and company more than the Jaguars at this point.

Pick is Colts
