NEW MEXICO BECOMES SIXTH STATE WITH LEGAL SPORTS BETTING by NICHOLAUS GARCIA

And then there were six.
On Tuesday, New Mexico became the sixth state with legal regulated sports betting since the US Supreme Court ruling in May.
Sports betting went live at the Santa Ana Star Casino and Hotel in Bernalillo, NM, located just outside Albuquerque. The 100,000 square-foot facility is operated by the Tamaya Nation at the Pueblo of Santa Ana. It offers most traditional dice games and card games like blackjack.
“We are extremely proud of the fact that Santa Ana Star Casino Hotel is the first tribal casino in the state of New Mexico, and one of the first in the nation to launch a sportsbook,” said casino-hotel’s CEO John Cirrincione.

Tip-Off Tips: Smart Plays And Stay-Aways As NBA Sports Betting Begins by Eric Raskin

People talk about the first weekend of the NFL regular season as if it’s the peak moment on the sports betting calendar. But really, what could be more peak than the opening week of NBA season? You have the NFL and college football in full swing, hockey is underway, the baseball playoffs are heating up, and now you add basketball? This is sports betting’s madhouse moment, when the books most resemble Grand Central Station at rush hour.
The NBA tips off on Tuesday with a meeting of up-and-coming Eastern Conference powers, the Boston Celtics hosting the Philadelphia 76ers, followed immediately by a Western Conference showdown between the defending champ Golden State Warriors and the visiting Oklahoma City Thunder.

Turnpike Sports® Week 6 NFL Picks

Dave

LA Chargers at the Cleveland Browns

The Chargers are a 1 point favorite on the road with an O/U of 44.5

This is one of the surprising spreads of the week with the Chargers only being a one point favorite. I think Philip Rivers will do enough to win by a touchdown since I'm not completely sold on the Cleveland Browns yet.

With only a 1 point spread this game is basically a pick em so I am picking the Chargers in this one.

Chicago Bears at Miami Dolphins

The Bears are a 3 point favorite in Miami with an O/U of 42

The Bears are my surprise team of the year with a solid offense and a very good defense led by Khalil Mack. Ryan Tannehill should feel Mack’s presence all day which should result in a Bears win

I'm taking the Chicago Bears and laying the points

The Indianapolis Colts at the New York Jets

The Jets are a 2.5 points favorite at home with an O/U of 45

The Jets are coming off a convincing win against the Denver Broncos last week but the question is can they put two good weeks together in a row? I think they can. Their run game came alive and Darnold didn't make that many mistakes and, let's be honest, the Colts are terrible. The Jets should pull this one out at home.

I'm taking the Jets and laying the points

Doug

Chicago Bears @ Miami Dolphins

Bears are a 3 point favorite with an O/U of 42

Chicago is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall and 9-4-1 ATS in their last 14 games against a team with a winning record. Miami is 1-6-1 ATS in their last 8 games following a loss and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games against a team with a winning record.  Chicago comes in rested following their bye and Trubisky finally looks comfortable under center. The Bears are also the more rested team and with how Chicago’s defense is playing, it may be another long day for the Dolphins even at home. I think laying the field goal with Chicago is the play in this one.

Pick is Bears

LA Rams @ Denver Broncos

Rams are a 7 point favorite with an O/U of 52.5

The Los Angeles Rams have been a little shaky defensively the last couple of games but they’re still outscoring teams by 15 points this season and have scored no less than 33 points in every game. The Denver Broncos are being outscored by 11.6 points during their three-game losing streak and have scored more than 20 points just once in their last four games. Rams are 6-2-1 ATS in their last nine games when favored by at least seven points, and the Broncos are 4-9-1 ATS in their last 14 games when an underdog of at least seven points. It's never easy to play in Denver and the Rams have some key players banged up on the offensive side of the ball. But I'm not sure it matters against a team like Denver. The Broncos don't have the firepower to keep up with the Rams offensively.

Picks is Rams

Kansas City Chiefs @ New England Patriots

Patriots are a 3.5 point favorite with an O/U of 59

The Chiefs are 4-0 ATS in the last four road games and 5-0 ATS in their last five overall. The Chiefs have become darlings of the league and one of the major favorites in the AFC. KC hung 30 points and a whopping four picks on the Jaguars.  As for the Patriots… well, they’re the Patriots. Always focused, always good, and even when they’re banged up or playing with a bunch of no-name guys they still find ways to win. I wanted to stay away from this game, but I think the Chiefs have arrived and I’ll take KC for the cover.

Pick is Chiefs

NJ REGULATOR TAKES BLAME FOR FANDUEL ERROR — AND ISSUES WARNING TO OFFSHORE SPORTSBOOKS BY JOHN BRENNAN

Three weeks ago, FanDuel Sportsbook’s erroneous offering in the late stages of a Broncos-Raiders game led to a handful of sharp-eyed fans pouncing before the ridiculously favorable 750/1 odds were fixed. FanDuel’s initial refusal to pay up — most notably to one bettor at the Meadowlands Racetrack claiming to be owed $82,000 — made national news, as did the subsequent reversal a few days later.
The news cycle surrounding that incident continued to churn this week, when New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement Director David Rebuck responded to NJ Online Gambling‘s query during a Global Gaming Expo panel discussion in Las Vegas on Tuesday about what’s next in U.S. sports betting expansion.

Terror Behind the Walls - The Prison

A Massive Haunted House Inside a Real Prison

The setting for Terror Behind the Walls is perfect for a haunted attraction. Eastern State Penitentiary was once the most famous and expensive prison in the world, but stands today in ruin, a lost world of crumbling cellblocks and empty guard towers. This gothic structure, with soaring 30-foot high fortress walls, is intimidating enough during the day. At night, the cellblocks fall into darkness, and the building becomes truly terrifying.

NASCAR promoters making a bet that sports gambling can attract new interest By Liz Clarke

Sandwiched between the Bud Light beer pavilion and the 46-foot Monster statue that dominates Dover International Speedway’s fan plaza was a new amenity for NASCAR fans heading to their seats for Sunday’s 400-mile race.
“Sports Betting: Vegas style,” a banner proclaimed next to the trackside kiosk, where, for the first time, stock-car racing fans could legally wager on the action at Dover’s so-called “Monster Mile,’” a one-mile, high-banked oval akin to a concrete mixing bowl.

Turnpike Sports® Week 5 NFL Picks

Dave

Miami Dolphins at the Cincinnati Bengals

Cincinnati playing at home is a 6.5 point favorite with an O/U of 49.5

The Bengals had an impressive win against the Atlanta Falcons last week with the Miami Dolphins playing just awful against the New England Patriots. In all three of their wins, Cincinnati has put up 34 points and it's probable that Joe Mixon will be back in the lineup for the Bengals. With the Dolphins leading the league with throwing nine interceptions I think the Bengals are in for a big Sunday.

I'm taking the Bengals and laying the points

Los Angeles Rams at Seattle Seahawks

The Rams are 7 point favorite playing in Seattle with an O/U of 51.

The Rams are the best team in the league and they proved it last week against the Vikings. With Earl Thomas being out for the Seahawks and the Rams gaining at least 20 yards in 19% of their pass plays it will be a long day for the Seahawks defense. Usually I wouldn't pick a team that are 7 point favorites on the road, but I'm doing it this week.

I'm taking the Rams and laying the points

Tennessee Titans at Buffalo Bills

The Titans are a 3.5 point favorite in Buffalo with an O/U of 39

Marcus Mariota is coming off a nice win against the defending Super Bowl Champions Philadelphia Eagles and showed he can play through his nagging hand injury. The Buffalo Bills are a team that is woefully short on talent (I'm still trying to figure out how they beat the Vikings a couple of weeks ago). I'm taking the Titans in this one, not to blow the Buffalo Bill's out, but certainly to win by at least a touchdown.

I'm taking the Titans and laying the points

----------------------

Doug

Arizona Cardinals @ San Francisco 49ers

Niners are a 4 point favorite with an O/U of 41

Without Garrapolo at quarterback, I really don’t see how the Niners are a 4 point favorite.  The Cardinals have lost their last two games by a combined 5 points and Rosen has looked good since taking over for Sam Bradford.  This is a matchup between two of the NFL’s worst teams and, honestly, flip a coin, but I’m thinking this may be the week the winless team scores their first win.

Pick is Cardinals

NY Giants @ Carolina Panthers

Panthers are a 7 point favorite with an O/U of 44.5

While the Giants have really been underwhelming on offense this season even with the addition of Saquon Barkley.  But they’ve been doing very well against the spread this season. The Giants have gone 7-2-1 against the spread over the last 10 games they’ve been underdogs by 7 or more points.  Add in the fact that the Giants have allowed the 10th fewest yards in the air and only 4 passing touchdowns all season, I don’t see an easy time being had by Carolina.

Picks is Giants

Denver Broncos @ NY Jets

Jets are a 1.5 point favorite with an O/U of 42.5

Denver is coming off an really tough loss and now have to travel to the Jets on a short week.  The Broncos are not as good as they have looked lately and the Jets, while playing poorly lately, are not as bad as they look.  Especially at home, where they still have a winning record against the spread. Jets QB Darnold has gotten progressively worse as the teams he’s faced have gotten better, but I would equate Denver’s defense somewhere between the Lions and the Dolphins defenses so we might finally see a good performance out of the rookie.  Something he really hasn’t had since Week 1.

Pick is Jets

Legalized sports betting could net NHL $216 million annually by DAVID DANZIS

Legalized sports betting could increase annual revenue for the National Hockey League by $216 million, according to a recent study from Nielsen Sports.
The study, commissioned by the American Gaming Association, concluded that widely available, legal, regulated sports betting could benefit the NHL’s bottom line. The league could generate new revenue from betting operators on advertising, data and sponsorships as well as increased consumption of the league’s media and products, according to the AGA.

Clues To The Future Of Sports Betting Revealed In How Elected Officials Are Steering The Conversation by John Brennan

After mainly focusing on Thursday on what five speakers had to say at a U.S. House of Representatives subcommittee hearing on U.S. sports betting legalization in Washington, D.C., we are following up by looking closely at how the House members asking them questions addressed the topic.
Some of them ranged a bit far afield, and there was no real consensus on how to approach this issue in the wake of the Supreme Court’s landmark decision in May that wiped out a near-total ban on legal sports gambling that had been passed by Congress in 1992.
But some clues were provided that could give us a better idea on what directions this committee might consider going in the future.

Sports Streaming Service Could Be On The Block After Company Splits by Scott Longley

The decision from Perform Group to split its consumer-facing DAZN streaming business from its largely betting-related content and data supply business could signal the latter unit is up for sale, according to industry sources.
Perform announced the split last week, saying it was forming “two distinct brands” out of its existing lines of business.
The business-to-consumer business, now called DAZN Group, will be led by original Perform founder Simon Denyer and will comprise the on-demand sports streaming business as well as consumer-facing websites Goal.comSportingNews and Spox.com. These sites will now be more clearly focused on driving traffic to and acquiring subscribers for DAZN.
