NHL to reveal new sports betting partner from iGaming Business

The NHL is set to go “all in” with sports betting when it announces a major partnership at a press conference led by commissioner Gary Bettman later today.
A long-standing opponent of sports betting and fierce defender of PASPA until its repeal earlier this year, the ice hockey league will give further details about a significant commercial deal at an event taking place in New York City at 11am ET (4pm GMT).

Turnpike Sports NFL Week 8 Picks

Dave

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at the Cincinnati Bengals

Cincinnati is a 4.5 point favorite with an O/U of 54

Cincinnati had some tough losses against the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Kansas City Chiefs but the Tampa Bay Buccaneers do not have a talent of either of those teams. The Bengals is 8-1 against the spread after a road game and with a little home cooking they should be back on track this week.

I'm taking the Cincinnati Bengals and laying the points

Washington Redskins at the New York Giants

The Washington Redskins are a 1 point favorite with an O/U of 42

I know I took the New York Giants to keep it close last week, however their defense just got a bit weaker after their Apple and Harrison trades. With a 1 point spread, this game is basically a pick'em and the Redskins should beat an awful Giants team by at least a field goal.

I'm taking the Washington Redskins and laying the point

The Green Bay Packers at the Los Angeles Rams

The Rams are favored by 9 points with an O/U of 57

I can't remember an Aaron Rodgers Packers led team ever being a 9 point underdog. Granted the Rams are the best team in the league with a great defense but I think that point spread is way too much. I'm not saying the Packers are going to win, but Aaron Rodgers should find a way to keep it close.

I'm taking the Green Bay Packers  to cover

Doug

Baltimore Ravens @ Carolina Panthers

Ravens are a 2 point favorite with an O/U of 43

I’m not quite sure why the Panthers are the underdog here.  Watching them as the season has progressed, Carolina has slowly but surely become one of the more consistent teams in the league.  Following a very impressive comeback win on the road against the Eagles last week, the Panthers look to remain unbeaten at home. The Ravens are coming in following a tough loss to the Saints.  The Panthers are 4-1 ATS vs. a team with a winning record and 6-2 ATS in their last 8 home games. I’m thinking the Panthers remain unbeaten at home for at least another week.

Pick is Panthers

Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Cincinnati Bengals

Bengals are a 4.5 point favorite with an O/U of 54

The Bucs are looking to get over .500 after just barely getting by Cleveland last week.  And I think that’s the problem for me here. Tampa Bay is averaging the most total yardage and the most passing yardage in the league, but I don’t think that’s enough given the point spread here.  The Bengals are looking to avoid losing three in a row and, while I don’t completely trust Andy Dalton and company, I think they should do enough in this game to cover a 4.5 point spread. Anything more, I’d go the other way.

Pick is Bengals

Green Bay Packers @ Los Angeles Rams

Rams are a 9 point favorite with an O/U of 57

While everyone is expecting the Rams to be 8 and 0 after this week’s game with the Packers, but with Aaron Rodgers at quarterback, I really don’t think you count the Packers completely out.  The Rams outclass and outmatch the Packers at every position except the quarterback. Goff’s playing well, but he’s not equal to Rodgers….yet. For that reason, I think the Packers, while they may not upset the Rams, will hang in there and beat that nine point spread.

Pick is Packers

PARX LAYS OUT SPORTS BETTING TIMELINE, PLANS FOR $10 MILLION SPORTSBOOK BY ERIC RASKIN

The cost of a sports betting license in Pennsylvania is $10 million. Parx Casino ponied up that chunk of change on August 27 and got approved — and now the Bensalem, Pennsylvania property is ready to do it all over again.

Penn Bets got a look this week at the blueprints for Parx’s permanent sportsbook facility, which Senior Vice President of Sports and Interactive Matt Cullen revealed will be another eight-figure expenditure.

“It’s going to be a spectacular sportsbook,” Cullen said. “We’re investing close to $10 million into it. There’s going to be an LED screen that wraps around half of the facility, a really nice bar with video poker, TVs everywhere, kiosks for self-service betting. We’re expecting it to be state of the art.”

Horseshoe Casino Baltimore and NFL’s Ravens agree marketing deal by K Morrison

In Maryland, the second partnership between a casino and an NFL team is in the books as the Horseshoe Casino Baltimore announced on Friday that it had inked a multi-year marketing deal with the Ravens.
According to The Baltimore Sun, under the terms of the agreement, the casino will be able to use Baltimore Ravens logos and trademarks, with the casino expected to also capitalize on its proximity to M&T Bank Stadium. Both the casino and the stadium are on Russell Street, south of Downtown Baltimore in the city’s developing Southern Gateway Entertainment District.

Turnpike Sports® Week 7 Picks

Dave

New Orleans Saints at the Baltimore Ravens

Baltimore is 2.5 point favorite with an O/U of 49.5

Baltimore has a great defense but New Orleans is my favorite road team. In the last two road games they've scored 76 points and are 6-3 against the spread in their last nine road games. Drew Brees will find a way to get the ball in the end zone. He always does.

I'm taking the New Orleans Saints

The New York Giants at Atlanta Falcons

The Atlanta Falcons are a 6 point favorite with an O/U of 54.5

I like the Giants to keep a close in this game. They kept it close against the Carolina Panthers and the Jacksonville Jaguars and with the Falcons running back Devonta Freeman and kicker Matt Bryant out, I think this game could come down to the wire. Not saying the Giants are going to win, but they should cover.

I'm taking the New York Giants to cover.

Cincinnati Bengals at the Kansas City Chiefs

Kansas City Chiefs are a 6 point favorite with an O/U of 58.5

Kansas City may win this game but the Bengals should keep a close. If last week taught us anything, it's the fact that the Chiefs defense can be scored upon early and often by a good offense. The Cincinnati Bengals have a good offense. I think that 6 point spread is just too much.

I'm taking the Cincinnati Bengals to cover

----

Doug

Carolina Panthers @ Philadelphia Eagles

Eagles are a 4.5 point favorite with an O/U of 45.5

Eagles are coming in to this game relatively healthy and, after a shaky start to the season, have been playing much better since Carson Wentz has come back.  The Eagles are 2 - 1 at home, with the one loss being a really tough one at the hands of the Minnesota Vikings. The Panthers, on the other hand, are 3 and 0 at home, but winless on the road.  Eagles are leading the league in time of possession and that should help keep the Panthers offense off the field for long stretches of time. I think the Eagles are the way to go here.

Pick is Eagles

Buffalo Bills @ Indianapolis Colts

Colts are a 7.5 point favorite with an O/U of 43.5

The Bills would have had a tough game even if Josh Allen was able to make a go of it.  Now, with the old guy Derek Anderson starting (his first start in a few years), you’ve got to like Andrew Luck and the Colts’ chances to get Frank Reich his first home win as Coach.  While the Bills do have a very good defense, they’re facing a very good quarterback in Luck, even without a few of his weapons. I really have trouble seeing the Bills offense doing anything against the Colts especially with a quarterback they just signed last week.

Picks is Colts

Dallas Cowboys @ Washington Redskins

Redskins are a 1.5 point favorite with an O/U of 41

Watching Dallas over the last couple weeks, the team seems to have finally found a way to play better.  The offense seems to be clicking, especially Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott. The Cowboy defense also seems to be not just better, but has gotten tougher as the season has progressed.  Adrian Peterson could be a key factor and, if he has a good game, Dallas could be in trouble. That’s a big if. Prescott has not lost to the Redskins and I don’t see him doing that now.

Pick is Cowboys

NEW MEXICO BECOMES SIXTH STATE WITH LEGAL SPORTS BETTING by NICHOLAUS GARCIA

And then there were six.
On Tuesday, New Mexico became the sixth state with legal regulated sports betting since the US Supreme Court ruling in May.
Sports betting went live at the Santa Ana Star Casino and Hotel in Bernalillo, NM, located just outside Albuquerque. The 100,000 square-foot facility is operated by the Tamaya Nation at the Pueblo of Santa Ana. It offers most traditional dice games and card games like blackjack.
“We are extremely proud of the fact that Santa Ana Star Casino Hotel is the first tribal casino in the state of New Mexico, and one of the first in the nation to launch a sportsbook,” said casino-hotel’s CEO John Cirrincione.

Tip-Off Tips: Smart Plays And Stay-Aways As NBA Sports Betting Begins by Eric Raskin

People talk about the first weekend of the NFL regular season as if it’s the peak moment on the sports betting calendar. But really, what could be more peak than the opening week of NBA season? You have the NFL and college football in full swing, hockey is underway, the baseball playoffs are heating up, and now you add basketball? This is sports betting’s madhouse moment, when the books most resemble Grand Central Station at rush hour.
The NBA tips off on Tuesday with a meeting of up-and-coming Eastern Conference powers, the Boston Celtics hosting the Philadelphia 76ers, followed immediately by a Western Conference showdown between the defending champ Golden State Warriors and the visiting Oklahoma City Thunder.

Turnpike Sports® Week 6 NFL Picks

Dave

LA Chargers at the Cleveland Browns

The Chargers are a 1 point favorite on the road with an O/U of 44.5

This is one of the surprising spreads of the week with the Chargers only being a one point favorite. I think Philip Rivers will do enough to win by a touchdown since I'm not completely sold on the Cleveland Browns yet.

With only a 1 point spread this game is basically a pick em so I am picking the Chargers in this one.

Chicago Bears at Miami Dolphins

The Bears are a 3 point favorite in Miami with an O/U of 42

The Bears are my surprise team of the year with a solid offense and a very good defense led by Khalil Mack. Ryan Tannehill should feel Mack’s presence all day which should result in a Bears win

I'm taking the Chicago Bears and laying the points

The Indianapolis Colts at the New York Jets

The Jets are a 2.5 points favorite at home with an O/U of 45

The Jets are coming off a convincing win against the Denver Broncos last week but the question is can they put two good weeks together in a row? I think they can. Their run game came alive and Darnold didn't make that many mistakes and, let's be honest, the Colts are terrible. The Jets should pull this one out at home.

I'm taking the Jets and laying the points

--

Doug

Chicago Bears @ Miami Dolphins

Bears are a 3 point favorite with an O/U of 42

Chicago is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall and 9-4-1 ATS in their last 14 games against a team with a winning record. Miami is 1-6-1 ATS in their last 8 games following a loss and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games against a team with a winning record.  Chicago comes in rested following their bye and Trubisky finally looks comfortable under center. The Bears are also the more rested team and with how Chicago’s defense is playing, it may be another long day for the Dolphins even at home. I think laying the field goal with Chicago is the play in this one.

Pick is Bears

LA Rams @ Denver Broncos

Rams are a 7 point favorite with an O/U of 52.5

The Los Angeles Rams have been a little shaky defensively the last couple of games but they’re still outscoring teams by 15 points this season and have scored no less than 33 points in every game. The Denver Broncos are being outscored by 11.6 points during their three-game losing streak and have scored more than 20 points just once in their last four games. Rams are 6-2-1 ATS in their last nine games when favored by at least seven points, and the Broncos are 4-9-1 ATS in their last 14 games when an underdog of at least seven points. It's never easy to play in Denver and the Rams have some key players banged up on the offensive side of the ball. But I'm not sure it matters against a team like Denver. The Broncos don't have the firepower to keep up with the Rams offensively.

Picks is Rams

Kansas City Chiefs @ New England Patriots

Patriots are a 3.5 point favorite with an O/U of 59

The Chiefs are 4-0 ATS in the last four road games and 5-0 ATS in their last five overall. The Chiefs have become darlings of the league and one of the major favorites in the AFC. KC hung 30 points and a whopping four picks on the Jaguars.  As for the Patriots… well, they’re the Patriots. Always focused, always good, and even when they’re banged up or playing with a bunch of no-name guys they still find ways to win. I wanted to stay away from this game, but I think the Chiefs have arrived and I’ll take KC for the cover.

Pick is Chiefs

NJ REGULATOR TAKES BLAME FOR FANDUEL ERROR — AND ISSUES WARNING TO OFFSHORE SPORTSBOOKS BY JOHN BRENNAN

Three weeks ago, FanDuel Sportsbook’s erroneous offering in the late stages of a Broncos-Raiders game led to a handful of sharp-eyed fans pouncing before the ridiculously favorable 750/1 odds were fixed. FanDuel’s initial refusal to pay up — most notably to one bettor at the Meadowlands Racetrack claiming to be owed $82,000 — made national news, as did the subsequent reversal a few days later.
The news cycle surrounding that incident continued to churn this week, when New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement Director David Rebuck responded to NJ Online Gambling‘s query during a Global Gaming Expo panel discussion in Las Vegas on Tuesday about what’s next in U.S. sports betting expansion.

Terror Behind the Walls - The Prison

A Massive Haunted House Inside a Real Prison

The setting for Terror Behind the Walls is perfect for a haunted attraction. Eastern State Penitentiary was once the most famous and expensive prison in the world, but stands today in ruin, a lost world of crumbling cellblocks and empty guard towers. This gothic structure, with soaring 30-foot high fortress walls, is intimidating enough during the day. At night, the cellblocks fall into darkness, and the building becomes truly terrifying.

NASCAR promoters making a bet that sports gambling can attract new interest By Liz Clarke

Sandwiched between the Bud Light beer pavilion and the 46-foot Monster statue that dominates Dover International Speedway’s fan plaza was a new amenity for NASCAR fans heading to their seats for Sunday’s 400-mile race.
“Sports Betting: Vegas style,” a banner proclaimed next to the trackside kiosk, where, for the first time, stock-car racing fans could legally wager on the action at Dover’s so-called “Monster Mile,’” a one-mile, high-banked oval akin to a concrete mixing bowl.
