TurnpikeSports® NFL Week 3 Picks

Dave:

Last week 1 - 2 ATS

Season 2 - 4

This week’s picks

Los Angeles Chargers at the Los Angeles Rams

The Los Angeles Rams are seven point favorite O/U 48

With this battle of Los Angeles one team comes in with a lot more firepower than the other, and that team is the Rams. Don't get me wrong, the Chargers are very talented team and they were the sports books favorites to win the West but with two very unimpressive games the Chargers have yet to get their act together and it won't start this week.

I'm taking the Rams and laying the points.

Cincinnati Bengals at the Carolina Panthers

Carolina is home and favored by 3 points with O/U 43.5

Carolina is coming off a tough loss against the Atlanta Falcons and with Cincinnati scoring 34 points in each of their first two games, they face a bigger test this week. Carolina is getting the three points because they are the home team but I think the Bengals will not just cover but will win outright.

I'm going with the underdog Bengals.

The New York Giants at the Houston Texans

The New York Giants are 6 point underdogs as they visit Houston with an O/U of 41.5

The Giants have great weapons with Odell Beckham on and Saquon Barkley, however with their terrible offensive line it's tough to utilize these players to their full capacity. It will be much of the same this week with Eli Manning enduring pressure from the Texan defense.

I'm taking Houston in this one and laying the points.

Doug

Last week 1 - 2 ATS

Season 2 - 4

This week’s picks

L.A. Chargers @ L.A. Rams

Rams are 7 point favorite with an O/U of 48

teams have met 11 times previously—most recently in 2014 for a game that the Chargers eked out a 27-24 victory in—with the Rams boasting a slight, 6-5 lead in the series.  extremely close battle, 290 points each in the series

One thing to watch out for is the second half.  This year, Rams have dominated after halftime in each of their first two games. The Chargers have been outscored 35-19 in second halves and has yet to score a single point in the third quarter.  But the Rams haven’t faced a team like the Chargers yet, and the Bolts will be sending their defense after Goff.

Pick is Chargers +7

New York Giants @ Houston Texans

Houston is a 6 point favorite with an O/U of 41.5

DeShaun Watson is facing a Giants secondary which is among the best in the NFL. Opposing quarterbacks are completing less than 59 percent of their passes and the Giants secondary has surrendered only 164 passing yards per game and 5.8 yards per attempt.  On the other side of the ball, the Texans’ defense has allowed only 3.4 yards per rush and no rushing touchdowns this season. So, with the Giants missing their starting center and the offensive line a continuous work-in-progress, expect Houston to keep Barkley contained, but the understaffed Texans secondary can be exploited. Watch for Engram to have a big game, as Rob Gronkowski torched the Texans for 123 yards on seven receptions.
Pick is the Giants +6.
Chicago Bears @ Arizona Cardinals

Bears are a 6 point favorite with an O/U of 37.5

Until we see some signs of like from Arizona you have to stay away from the Cardinals.  They are 0-2 and have been outscored 58-6. They drafted UCLA quarterback Josh Rosen in the first round but he has yet to play this season.  You have to wonder how much longer they’re going to wait til they throw him in.

The Bears defense was strong against Seattle. Russell Wilson was under pressure all game long and they dumped him for six sacks. They also completely bottle up the running game. Once they got the lead the defense was able to let the offense sputter. These guys are very strong up front.

Pick is Chicago

They say once is a fluke, twice is a coincidence, three times is a trend. That means we probably should have waited one more week to try to find real meaning in the sports betting at New Jersey’s eight (and counting) mobile books. But we’re going to go ahead and jump offsides just prior to the snap and hope the refs don’t notice.
Through two weeks, and 32 games, of NFL action, here’s a rundown of some interesting stats, fun wagering stories, creative bets, and more.
